From the published data, East China Normal University received a total of 164 approvals, of which 13 were from the Faculty of Economics and Management, 1 key project, 7 general projects, and 5 youth science fund projects. The total number of projects reached a record high. The number of key projects was the same as last year. The number of general projects increased by 4 compared with last year, and the number of youth science fund projects decreased by 1 compared with last year. It indicated that the overall research level of the Faculty of Economics and Management had reached a new level. From the list of the funded projects in 2019 published by the Science and Technology Department of East China Normal University, all the projects applied by the three teachers of the Academy of Statistics and Interdisciplinary Sciences(ASIS) were approved, including 1 key project, 1 general project and 1 youth science fund projects.
number | Project Approval Number | Project Leader | Project | Application Code 1 | Project Type |
1 | 71931004 | Zhou Yong | Analysis Methods and Applications of Complex Data and Complex Behaviors in Economic Management | G0107 | Key Project |
2 | 71971083 | Shi Yun | Research on Portfolio Management and Asset Pricing under Probability Distortion | G0117 | General Project |

The project “Analysis Methods and Applications of Complex Data and Complex Behaviors in Economic Management” (Project Approval Number: 71931004), which was declared by Professor Zhou Yong, was approved by NSFC as a key project. This was the second key project of the Faculty of Economics and Management, following the first key project in the last year. Together with the key project “Finance Big Data Statistics Learning Theory and Methods and Application in Internet Finance” transferred by Professor Zhou Yong (Project Approval Number: 91546202), there are currently three key projects in the Statistics Department.
Associate Professor Shi Yun's Research on Portfolio Management and Asset Pricing under Probability Distortion (Project Approval Number: 71971083) was approved by the general project, and Assistant Professor Ma Huijuan’s Semiparametric regression models and their applications for multivariate recurrent event data with missing event type (project approval number: 11901200) was approved by the Youth Science Fund project. So far, all the three full-time teachers from ASIS have been approved by NSFC, which has achieved a bumper harvest and gratifying results!
The key project of NSFC was established in 1991. It is an important type in the series of scientific fund research projects. It supports the personnel engaged in basic research to carry out in-depth and systematic research on well-established research directions or discipline growth points, accelerates the development of disciplines and promotes breakthroughs in several important fields or scientific frontiers. The general project supports the personnel engaged in basic research to independently select topics within the scope of the scientific funding and carry out innovative scientific research. It promotes balanced, coordinated and sustainable development of various disciplines. The Youth Science Fund project supports the young researchers to independently select topics within the scope of the scientific funding and carry out basic research. It cultivates the ability of young researchers to independently conduct innovative research, stimulates the innovative thinking and cultivates successors for basic research.
